Two couples, two lives with no reason to meet. One includes a man who has just been laid off. The other includes a documentary filmmaker. When a documentary shoot begins, the four end up spending time together, and the gap between their worlds gets hard to hide.
With the camera rolling, the things each of them would rather keep quiet start to surface: desires never spoken, marriage frustrations, the gap in money and social standing. Lee Chang-dong likes to let tension build slowly, and here he has 164 minutes to do it.
Possible Love (original title 가능한 사랑) is the South Korean director's return eight years after Burning. He wrote the script with Oh Jung-mi. The cast brings together Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong, four heavyweights of Korean film, with Jo Yu-ri playing the young version of Jeon's character, Mi-ok.
