Quick recap

Washington, D.C., 2020. Kay Willingham, Georgetown socialite, philanthropist and the vice president's ex-wife, is found shot dead in a car parked behind a private school, next to the school's head. Kay was once Cross's patient. While Sampson retraces the other victim's last steps, Cross and FBI agent Ned Mahoney dig into her past in Alabama and run into corruption and secrecy. Kay's enemies seemed to need her alive, and the pushback keeps growing. The ending wasn't checked against a reliable source, so it stays out.
