2026. Cross and Sampson, longtime partners and friends, are sent to two different places. In Washington, Sampson investigates a suspected terror plot against the capital. In Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Cross searches the apartment of a missing psychology grad student: his own son, Damon. The book asks whether following his famous father's path has put Damon in danger. Hundreds of miles apart, the two lean on the trust they've always had. The ending wasn't checked against a reliable source, so it stays out.
