Quick recap

An older Bond flunks a training exercise, and M, who dislikes his methods, sends him to a health clinic. There Bond notices something odd: U.S. pilot Jack Petachi, whose eye was surgically altered to match the President's, is being used by SPECTRE to swap dummy warheads for two live nuclear ones. Assassin Fatima Blush kills Petachi. Blofeld demands a ransom from the world's governments. Bond goes to the Bahamas, meets Domino, Petachi's sister and the girlfriend of billionaire Maximilian Largo, and beats Largo at a war video game. Fatima tries to kill Bond and dies by an exploding pen. One warhead turns up in Washington. Bond and Felix Leiter follow Largo to the Tears of Allah in North Africa. Underwater, Domino kills Largo with a speargun.

Hidden details

  1. Behind the scenesThe title comes from a vow

In 1971 Sean Connery said he'd never play Bond again. The title plays on that, and the script keeps calling Bond too old for the job.

  2. Behind the scenesSteven Seagal broke Connery's wrist

The film's martial arts instructor was Steven Seagal, who broke Connery's wrist in training. Connery didn't find out about the fracture for over a decade.

  3. Behind the scenesNo gun barrel, no theme

Since it's not an Eon film, it couldn't use the gun barrel opening or the James Bond Theme. John Barry declined out of loyalty to Eon, so Michel Legrand scored it.
